How to create a shabby chic look?
basically i want to make my room look shabby chic/distressed/vintage.
I have seen shabby chic, and i love it, it's where, some edges look like they have been sanded off.
I have this desk, i want it painted white to make it look shabby chic-ey. How do i make it look like it's a bit detressed? do i sand of the sides? hit it with a sock filled with nails?

For the desk, paint it either a pale red or cream, depending on how much you want it to stand out. wait for it to dry, then paint a white coat. Using a low-grit (I recommend 80-grit) sandpaper from your local hardware store, sand parts of the desk. Lightly sand the top, but heavily sand all corners and edges. Once you see the base coat come through, stop sanding that spot. For added effect, use a hammer to give a distressed look by pounding random places with both the head and the back.
