When rolling hot asphalt it takes many passes to get the asphalt rock soild. When the asphalt has been rolled a few times you start spreading the clean stone over the already rolled asphalt evenly.
As the roller comes back through it will press the clean stone into the driveway. But revealing the colored stone on the serface of the asphalt driveway. This spreading of the decritive stone and rolling must be repeated until asphalt is fully hard. In many cases this type of driveway has to be half inch thicker than a regular driveway.
